PROJECT KUCHENGETEDZA ZVIWANIKWA (PKZ)

PKZ WORKS TO ENABLE PEOPLE TO FEEL SAFE, HEALTHY AND RESPECTED.

What We Do

— Child Sponsorship

With the dedication of a network of generous partners in the USA, PKZ coordinates the education of more than 30 primary, secondary and vocational school students, empowering youth through education.

— Supplemental Food Security Programs

PKZ has coordinated a supplemental food program for the young residents at the Daisy Dube Children’s Home since 2015.

More recently we have been able to provide essential food security for elders and rural families as funding allows.

— Increase Access to Medical Care

PKZ responds to requests for medical assistance — wheelchairs, crutches, and medical aid — on a case by case basis.

The team has been extraordinarily busy working on a clinic in Humani so that thousands of residents will no longer have to walk many, many miles and cross crocodile infested rivers to seek medical care.

— Increase Access to Water

PKZ has proudly installed several boreholes in rural areas and distributed Hipporollers(TM) for those who walk extremely long distances to access clean water.

— Special Projects

PKZ’s list of special projects is a long one from building an ECD center in Madhuku Village so that little ones would not have to walk miles to attend school, to distributing washable, reusable sanitary pads which enable secondary school girls to remain in school, to building toilets at Jopa Market to building homes for families in need both in Birchenough Bridge and in the aftermath of Cyclone Idai.

— Coordinate Humanitarian Shipping Containers

PKZ facilitates the amazing work of the humanitarian shipping containers from the USA including inspections, transportation and distribution.

Impact Stories

Samuel's Amazing Grace

At age 11, Samuel was leading a child headed household not knowing how he would feed his younger brothers, ages 8 and 5.  His faith, intellectual talent, determination, and caring mentors led him to PKZ sponsorship which ultimately led him to the United States where he recently graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Honors Physics.

Samuel is embarking on a PhD in physics with in a triple role:  as a student, as a teacher and as a researcher.

Shepherd's Home

Shepherd, deaf and mute, lived with his wife and six children in a one roomed home.  Unemployed, Shepherd came to the attention of the PKZ team who were determined to rectify this situation.  Not only does he and his family have a vastly larger place to live, Shepherd now has gainful employment working with the builder who coordinated the project.

PKZ brings dignity, hope and respect to people’s lives.

How do your donations work?
Here are a few examples:

  •  $12 provides a primary school student a pair of shoes.
  • $15 provides a school uniform for primary school student.  The hat is extra!
  • $20 supplies notebooks (some students need 12!) with pens and pencils.
  • $25 provides a uniform for a secondary school student.
  • $50 provides mealie meal for a vulnerable family for a month.
  • $50- $80 is required to cover the school fees for a primary school child in a rural area for one term.
  • $75-$165 pays the school fees for a secondary school student for one term.
  • $250 ensures food for the 25+ children at the Daisy Dube Children’s Home for a month.
  • A donation of any amount can be used to defray the cost of medication or medical supplies as “medical insurance” isn’t part of Zimbabwe life.
